Welfare insight

An extra hour of lying each day is associated with around 1.5 litres more milk per cow per day.*

Cow comfort is more than the bed she lies in. How she uses her cubicle, how freely she reaches the feed face, how long she stands and how she moves around the shed - every one of these behaviours reflects a management decision, and every one shifts before yield does. Vet Vision AI watches these interactions continuously.

See how your team handles the herd.

Cameras pick out the moments someone works closely with your cows. Our trained reviewers score every clip as Positive, Routine, Flagged for review or Escalate. You say who was involved, and each person builds a handling record you can train against.

  • Scored by people, not the AI.

The AI only finds the clips. Every verdict comes from one of our trained reviewers.

  • Nobody is identified automatically.

Your farm attributes each scored clip to the team member involved.

  • A record over time.

A farm score for good handling, the share of clips rated Positive or Routine, with a seven-month trend and each person’s own history.

Why handling quality matters
The Dairy app’s Stockmanship page: 84% overall good handling from 280 reviewed clips, split into 190 Positive, 45 Routine, 38 Flagged and 7 Escalate, with a seven-month trend. Sample data.

Data security and trust

Your data stays yours. Footage from your site is stored securely, encrypted in transit and at rest, and is never sold. Nothing is shared with third parties without your permission. We are UK GDPR compliant and provide clear data processing agreements for every deployment.

Our AI models are built to a scientific standard. Every model is validated on footage it has never seen before, including animals and locations entirely absent from training, so performance figures reflect real-world conditions rather than lab results. Models are developed by veterinary researchers, benchmarked against expert assessment before deployment, and monitored continuously on live sites.

Vet Vision AI is a University of Nottingham spin-out founded by practising vets.

Questions

FAQs

Is Vet Vision AI for Dairy only for housed herds?

It is designed primarily for housed dairy herds, with flexible coverage for mixed systems, loafing areas, and seasonal shed use.

Do we have to watch footage ourselves?

No. The value is in behaviour data, trends, reports, and guidance. The system is designed to turn footage into decisions, not create another camera feed to monitor.

What does installation involve?

We start with a dairy assessment, map the shed, plan coverage, calibrate the view, and onboard the team around the reporting workflow.

Can it compare different sheds or farms?

Yes. Vet Vision AI is built to make comfort and behaviour trends easier to compare across groups, sheds, sites, and seasons.

Does this replace vets or stockmanship?

No. Vet Vision AI for Dairy gives farmers, teams, vets, and consultants better evidence between checks, so experienced people can make better decisions sooner.
